2011 Cavalcade Of Cars a big success!

A  big shout out to all the friends and customers who stopped by to see us at the 2011 Cavalcade of Cars in Hamburg, NY. It was a great show with record attendance, lots of fun and some really spectacular cars. I would personally like to thank Mick Ciak for bringing his straight axle Henry J, Kevin Doolittle for the ’55 T-bird and Rick and Jason Heid for rolling down from Syracuse with their beautiful orange 1941 Willys Coupe.  A huge amoutn of thanks also go to Brian Garvey, our praxair welding saleman who volunteered to help us and spent a ton of time helping setup the displays and generally just kicking our butts into gear!

While we aren’t big on trophys it is nice to see that others recognize all the effort we put into our cars.  As a result of that effort the Heid’s Willys took an “excellence in class” and “Outstanding Modified” Award  as shown below.

Kevin Doolittle’s 1955 T-bird Gasser once again turned out to be a favorite with the crowd.  After receiving an “excellence in class” plaque it was also voted “Best Undercarriage” . While we would have been happy for that, after a heartwarming speech by Andy Starr (Cavalcade Promoter)  Kevin was also awarded the “Gary Schafer Memorial Award” and 500.00 cash.  Gary was also one of the promoters and sadly, passed away last year. The memorial award was picked by his friends and family for the car they thought he would have liked best. It was an honor to hear that we had been selected with a unanimous decision. Being the people-person he is, Kevin returned the cash to the family of the late Gary Schafer.
